Eksploitasi Lingkungan dalam QS. Ar-Rum Ayat 41 (Studi Komparasi Tafsir Al-Azhar dan Al-Misbah)

Abstract

This research is motivated by the rampant phenomenon of environmental damage in the form of environmental exploitation that has become the focus of Islamic environmental studies. This study analyzes how two leading tafsir books in Indonesia, namely Al-Azhar and Al-Misbah, interpret QS. Ar-Rum verse 41 regarding environmental damage on land and at sea. This study aims to identify and analyze the interpretation of QS. Ar-Rum verse 41 along with its relevance to environmental exploitation in the archipelago and the epistemology used by exegetes Hamka and Quraish Shihab, especially in interpreting the verse. This research is a qualitative library research with a descriptive-analytical method. The results of the study show that the interpretation of QS. Ar-Rum verse 41 mentions damage on land and at sea caused by human actions and has high relevance to the phenomenon of environmental exploitation. In the context of environmental fiqh, this verse is interpreted as a call to preserve nature and avoid all forms of environmental damage, as a manifestation of the creation of welfare based on maqashid as-syari'ah. The epistemological analysis of its interpretation shows similarities. Both refer to the Qur'an as the main source, but Quraish Shihab is more on the use of narration. Hamka is more inclined to the method of interpretation based on ra'yu, while Quraish Shihab adopts an analytical approach by combining the text of the Qur'an and narration. The validity of its interpretation is assessed based on the criteria of coherence, correspondence, and pragmatism.
