This article discusses tolerance in Indonesia in the perspective of the Qur'an and hadith. This research takes a qualitative approach using the library research method, which involves various sources of information such as books, literature, references, journals, notes, and relevant previous research. This research contains the importance of explaining the definition of tolerance, tolerance in Islam and how religious tolerance is applied in Indonesia. Religious tolerance is a central issue, because considering that Indonesia is a country that has a diversity of races, ethnicities, cultures, languages, and religions. Therefore, the conclusion of this research is that tolerance is one of the praiseworthy morals and plays an important role in Islam. Islam highly upholds tolerance, as the prophet exemplified directly to the community when the verses of the Qur'an were revealed as evidence that Islam is known as a religion that is good and tolerant with fellow Muslims and with adherents of other religions. Muslims are required to implement tolerance in everyday life while still paying attention to the boundaries that have been determined or outlined by Islam. Similarly, in Indonesia, which consists of many diverse races, tribes, languages, cultures, and religions. Therefore, tolerance is the key to maintaining peace and social harmony. And by understanding and applying the principles of tolerance in Islam, conflicts that arise can be handled peacefully.
