Badik sebagai kultur budaya masyarakat suku Bugis
Abstract
Badik, the traditional weapon of the Bugis people, holds an important role in the culture and identity of the Bugis ethnic group. More than just a self-defense tool, the badik symbolizes honor, courage, and responsibility. This article explores the history, philosophy, and function of the badik in the daily life of the Bugis community. Through in-depth analysis, it is found that the badik is not only used as a weapon but also as a symbol of social status and cultural identity. The badik reflects noble values such as siri’ na pacce (honor and solidarity), which are the main principles in the life of the Bugis people. Additionally, the badik is also believed to possess magical powers that can influence the life of its owner. Thus, the badik is not just a cultural artifact but also a manifestation of values and traditions passed down through generations.
