Metode penerjemahan pada subtitle cerita pendek bahasa Arab Etika Berkunjung versi Abu Giyas
Abstract
This research discusses the translation techniques identified by Newmark, including word-for-word, literal, faithful, semantic, adaptive, free, idiomatic, and communicative translation methods, which are applied in 39 subtitle dialogues of the Arabic story "Etiquette of Visiting." It was found that five methods were used: word-for-word translation with 18 instances (46.15%), communicative translation with 17 instances (43.59%), literal translation with 2 instances (5.13%), faithful translation with 1 instance (2.56%), and free translation with 1 instance (2.56%). The most frequently used method is word-for-word translation, which involves reviewing the production process without altering the structure.
In addition, communicative techniques are often used to ensure that the text is easily understood by readers by adapting to the intended context. Translation in the audiovisual context requires careful attention to detail to convey the story and setting, especially in animated films viewed by diverse audiences. The significance of this research lies in enhancing the quality of audiovisual content, particularly in increasing global viewership and supporting.
