Tren penggunaan bahasa asing dalam komunikasi modern
Abstract
Globalization has brought significant changes in various aspects of life, including language use. Indonesian, as the national language, faces great challenges due to the rampant use of foreign languages in modern communication. This article aims to analyze the impact of globalization on Indonesian language use, focusing on the trend of foreign vocabulary adoption in daily communication, social media, and the professional world. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a literature study approach and linguistic data analysis. The results show that globalization affects Indonesian through several mechanisms, such as assimilation of foreign vocabulary, changes in language style, and shifts in people's perceptions of linguistic identity. Although the use of foreign languages is often considered to reflect modernity and professionalism, it has the potential to reduce the purity of Indonesian and weaken its position as a symbol of national identity. This article recommends the need for a more adaptive linguistic policy strategy to maintain the sustainability of Indonesian in the era of globalization, including through language education and regulation of foreign language use in the media. Thus, it is hoped that Indonesian will remain relevant and able to function as an effective means of communication without losing its uniqueness.
