Akulturasi Budaya Hindu-Islam dalam Tradisi Upacara Grebeg di Jawa
Abstract
this study examines the cultural acculturation of Hindu-Islam traditions in the Grebeg ceremony in Java, a practice that represents cultural harmony and religious adaptation over centuries. Before Islam entered the Nusantara, the local culture was deeply influenced by HinduiBuddhist traditions. The arrival of Islam introduced a process of acculturation, marging new Islamic values with pre-existing cultural elements, as reflected in the Grebeg ceremony, this research uses a qualitative approach, combining literature studies and textual to explore the symbolism and dynamics of acculturation within the Grebeg tradition. The Findings reveal that elements such as the gunungan symbolize the blending of Hindu-Buddhist and Islamic vaulues, ilustrating the balance beteween cultural preservation and religius integration. Furthermore, the study highlight the role of Wali Songo in facilitating this synthesis in modern society, thiss research contributes to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of cultural and religious interactions in Java.
