Kajian epistemologi dalam perspektif barat
Abstract
Epistemology is a branch of the philosophy of science. There are many perspectives regarding this branch, one of which is according to the western perspective. What is the western view regarding this epistemology. In this journal, we will discuss the western view of epistemology, which was studied by several philosophers, including Socrates, Immanuel Kant, and others. Finally, it produces 3 epistemological classifications, including empiricism, rationalism, and criticism. Each has advantages and disadvantages. Epistemology relates to nature and the nature within it, methods for obtaining knowledge, and systems that aim to obtain the reality of the truth of knowledge itself. Furthermore, this discussion also highlights how these three schools of epistemology have significantly influenced the development of modern science, particularly within the framework of Western philosophy. Empiricism emphasizes sensory experience as the primary source of knowledge, rationalism emphasizes reason as the foundation of truth, while criticalism seeks to synthesize the two to achieve a more comprehensive understanding. This study is expected to provide a clear picture of the dynamics of Western epistemological thought and its relevance in the context of the development of philosophy of science in the contemporary era.
