Peranan predator kepik (coccinellidae) dalam mengendalikan hama kutu daun pada tanaman budidaya cabai
Abstract
Aphids (Aphididae spp.) are major pests in chili plants that can lead to a decline in crop quality and productivity. One of the most effective biological control methods is utilizing natural predators, such as lady beetles from the Coccinellidae family. This paper discusses the role of predatory lady beetles in suppressing aphid populations on chili plants and their effectiveness as biological control agents. Lady beetle predators exhibit high predation capabilities, can adapt to various agricultural ecosystems, and contribute to environmental balance by reducing dependence on chemical pesticides. Research findings indicate that lady beetle species such as Menochilus sexmaculatus and Coccinella transversalis can prey on aphids in significant numbers, thereby mitigating the negative impact of pest infestations. However, the effectiveness of these predators is influenced by prey availability, environmental conditions, and interactions with other biotic factors. Therefore, aphid control strategies based on lady beetle predators should be integrated with sustainable agricultural approaches to achieve optimal results.
