Identitas nasional dan representasi budaya
Analisis buku teks, bahasa dan lagu rakyat
Abstract
National identity is a crucial element that distinguishes one nation from another and serves as the foundation for building unity within diversity. This study addresses the issue of how education, language, and culture—particularly in Indonesia—function as mediums for the formation and reinforcement of national identity amidst the challenges of globalization and shifting local values. This study explores the role of history textbooks as instruments of national identity discourse, the function of the Indonesian language as a unifying force, and the representation of cultural values in Banyuwangi folk songs. Through a literature analysis approach, the study demonstrates that history education, the national language, and cultural heritage play significant roles in shaping and maintaining Indonesia’s national identity. The analysis of history textbooks, the role of the Indonesian language, and traditional songs reveals that these three elements complement each other in fostering collective awareness of national identity. The Indonesian language functions not only as a means of communication but also as a symbol of unity, reflecting the dignity and existence of the Indonesian nation amidst cultural and ethnic diversity. Meanwhile, Banyuwangi folk songs contain moral values that reflect the relationship between humans and God, fellow human beings, oneself, and the surrounding environment. The results of this analysis affirm that local cultural heritage contributes significantly to the internalization of national values and the development of character among Indonesian society, rooted in morality and love for the homeland. Therefore, strengthening national identity can be achieved through the preservation and integrative use of cultural elements, language, and historical education.
