Pendidikan kewarganegaraan dalam membangun kesadaran identitas nasional di kalangan generasi z
Abstract
In the midst of globalization and the dominance of digital culture, national identity awareness among Generation Z faces significant challenges. Civic Education (PKn), as a tool for shaping national character, plays a strategic role in strengthening national values in young people. This study aims to examine the role of civic education in fostering national identity awareness among Generation Z students. The findings reveal that although teachers acknowledge the importance of instilling national values, their teaching methods remain largely theoretical and lack real-world relevance. As a result, students tend to understand national identity conceptually but struggle to internalize it in daily life due to the strong influence of global culture and social media. However, digital media and extracurricular activities have shown to be effective in enhancing students' engagement and appreciation of national values, particularly when integrated through contextual and interactive approaches. The study concludes that civic education should be redesigned to be more creative, participatory, and aligned with the digital lifestyle of Generation Z. A modern civic education model that reflects students' realities is essential to building a strong, reflective, and sustainable sense of national identity in an increasingly globalized world.
