Strategi pengelolaan risiko operasional pada bank umum syariah di indonesia
Abstract
Operational risk is a strategic challenge for the sustainability of Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia. This type of risk involves potential losses arising from weaknesses in internal processes, human error, system failures, or external events. This study aims to analyze operational risk management strategies through the implementation of good corporate governance (GCG), the utilization of digital technology, and the evaluation of merger impacts on operational efficiency and risk control systems. The research method employed is a qualitative descriptive approach based on relevant literature and secondary data. The findings indicate that GCG enhances the effectiveness of risk management and organizational accountability. Digitalization of business processes facilitates early risk detection and reduces operational errors. Furthermore, the merger of Islamic banks — such as the formation of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) — has contributed to system integration, improved efficiency, and the centralization of risk management. However, challenges such as limited human resource capacity, organizational culture integration, and cybersecurity risks require continuous attention. These findings underscore that synergy among governance, technology, and institutional policy is essential to building operational resilience in Islamic banks amid global competition.
