Abstract

The prolonged conflict between Palestine and Israel has become a major focus of international attention, representing a humanitarian tragedy that reflects the global failure to uphold the principles of human rights and justice. As a country with the largest Muslim population and a long history of colonialism, Indonesia demonstrates active civil society involvement through various forms of humanitarian action. Indonesian society's empathy toward Palestine has evolved from a mere emotional reaction into a sustained social awareness that strengthens the values of active citizenship and global solidarity. In this context, social media plays a crucial role as a channel for raising awareness, enabling direct emotional connections between individuals and the harsh reality of the Palestinian people's suffering. This makes the humanitarian issue feel more real and closer to the Indonesian public, encouraging active and responsible involvement in upholding humanitarian values and justice. This study aims to examine how empathy, nurtured through social media and collective awareness, can become a social force that reinforces support for the Palestinian struggle mpolitically, socially, and morally and shapes a form of citizenship that is empathetic, critical, and active in addressing global humanitarian issues.
