Abstract

Education is a crucial means for developing students' potential to interact creatively with their environment. This study employs a qualitative approach to deeply understand how ontology in educational practice, along with its implications and challenges, affects the education system. Educational ontology encompasses both individual aspects, focusing on student experiences, and social aspects, highlighting sociocultural contexts. The findings indicate that no single school of educational philosophy is entirely dominant in learning practices. Instead, integrating various approaches—such as progressive, essentialist, and reconstructivist—provides educators with the flexibility to develop effective teaching strategies. Ontological assumptions significantly impact curriculum design, teaching methods, and evaluation processes. In conclusion, ontological awareness is essential for educators to design and implement relevant educational practices. Understanding educational philosophy enables teachers to be more reflective in their pedagogical decision-making, thereby fostering democratic, critical, and contextual learning in a dynamic modern era.
