Abstract

Monopoly and unhealthy competition are significant issues in Indonesia's economy, with monopolies

stifling market competition and harming consumers. In Islamic economics, these issues are addressed

through principles such as justice, honesty, and the prevention of harmful practices like usury (riba) and

fraud (tadlis). This paper examines the relevant economic principles of Islam regarding competition,

focusing on the prohibition of monopolies and fraudulent practices. Additionally, it explores the concept

of maslahah (public benefit) in economic activities, highlighting the importance of ensuring that economic

activities benefit society as a whole. The paper also analyzes historical examples from the time of Prophet

Muhammad SAW to illustrate how Islamic principles can be applied to promote a healthy and fair market.
