This study explores the use of folktales and fables as effective tools to promote students' English writing skills. The research highlights how these stories captivate students' imaginations, making the learning process more interesting and meaningful. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, the researcher involved interviews with an English tutor and showed folktales and fables that have been used in teaching. The findings reveal that folktales and fables help students expand their vocabulary, develop a clearer understanding of narrative structure, and improve creativity in writing. Additionally, these stories foster reflection on moral values, which enhances critical thinking and purposeful writing. The study also identified challenges, including the need to adapt folktales to students' varying abilities, and the time required for preparation, yet overall concludes that folktales and fables are valuable resources for improving English writing skills.
