Peran zakat dalam mewujudkan kesejahteraan umat
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the role of zakat in promoting the welfare of the Muslim community by employing a conceptual framework and a literature-based approach. Zakat, as one of the fundamental pillars of Islam, goes beyond its religious obligation and functions as a powerful tool for social and economic reform. It holds the potential to redistribute wealth fairly and reduce economic disparities within society. Unlike conventional taxation, zakat is deeply rooted in spiritual responsibility, making its implementation more impactful in fostering empathy and solidarity among community members.Through the review of five scholarly journals, this study highlights how zakat, when administered professionally and transparently, can significantly contribute to poverty alleviation and inclusive economic growth. The integration of zakat into national fiscal policies is shown to be effective in addressing structural poverty and ensuring a more equitable distribution of resources. Additionally, zakat plays a crucial role in empowering marginalized groups and supporting sustainable development efforts. The findings affirm that zakat should not merely be treated as a charitable act, but as a formal instrument within Islamic fiscal systems. When aligned with state policies and good governance, zakat has the capacity to enhance social justice, improve public welfare, and contribute to the broader objective of achieving economic stability and equity in Muslim societies.
