Mathematics in the Light of Islam: Integration of Knowledge in the Framework of Tawhid
Abstract
This paper discusses the integration of Islam and mathematics within a holistic Islamic education framework. In the Islamic prespective, all knowledge originates from Allah and should guide individuals closer to Him. Mathematics is not merely a tool of calculation or logical reasoning, but also a medium to understand the order oh the universe as a reflection of God greatness. Drawing insight from scholars at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, this article emphasizes the importance of embedding Islamic values- such as tawhid (the oneness of God), effort(ikhtiar), trustworthiness(amanah), and gratitude(shukr) int the theacing and learning of mathematics. The discussion also addresses curriculum development and theaching strategies that integrated both scientific knowledge and spiritual understanding. This approach aims to nurture student who are not only intellectualy capablebut also possess strong Islamic character and noble conduct.
