Keywords:

The phenomenon of increasing numbers of women smoking in Indonesia indicates a shift in culture and gender perceptions in society. This change has led to a debate between viewing it as a form of individual freedom or as a public health issue. This article aims to analyze the factors causing the increasing trend of smoking among women and its social and health implications. The method used is conceptual analysis based on a review of scientific literature and secondary data from five relevant research journals. The results of the study show that lifestyle factors, peer influence, access to cigarettes, advertising, and individual meaning processes are the main triggers. On the other hand, women smokers face significant health risks, including reproductive system disorders and chronic diseases. Collaborative efforts between the government, the community, and the media are needed to deal with this phenomenon in a preventive and educative manner.
