Urgensi Muntah dalam Perspektif Hadits dan Medis
Abstract
Vomiting is a common physiological condition triggered by various factors, including digestive disorders, infections, psychological stressors, or even intentional acts. Medically, it's understood as a protective bodily mechanism to expel harmful substances from the stomach. However, recurrent vomiting can lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalances, potentially endangering health and necessitating medical intervention. From an Islamic perspective, particularly concerning fasting, vomiting carries significant legal implications. Intentional vomiting invalidates the fast, whereas unintentional vomiting does not affect its validity. Furthermore, the majority of scholars classify vomit as unclean (najis), emphasizing the importance of personal hygiene to maintain the sanctity of worship. This study explores the concept of vomiting from both hadith and medical perspectives through a literature review. By examining diverse Islamic and medical scientific sources, it seeks to identify common ground and relevance. The findings indicate that Islamic principles regarding vomiting, as found in hadith, align with medical principles, especially concerning hygiene and health maintenance. This integrative understanding highlights how religious teachings and scientific knowledge complement each other, fostering awareness of the importance of cleanliness and health, particularly in the context of worship.
