This study discusses the application of strategic management in controlling non-performing financing (NPF) in Islamic banks in Indonesia. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the findings show that effective strategic management involves the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation. SWOT analysis, the application of the 5C principles, the enhancement of human resource competence, and the utilization of digital technology are key factors in reducing financing risks. In addition to internal factors, macroeconomic conditions also influence the level of NPF. The success of NPF control has an impact on stability, reputation, and the implementation of the Islamic values of ‘adl (justice) and amanah (trustworthiness) in Islamic banking. The findings also indicate that the implementation of adaptive strategic management in response to market dynamics and regulatory changes plays an important role in maintaining the quality of financing portfolios. Collaboration between the risk management, financing, and information technology divisions is essential to build an early warning system for potential non-performing financing. Moreover, the digitalization of customer analysis processes through the use of machine learning and big data analytics has proven to enhance the accuracy of financing eligibility assessments. Thus, NPF control strategies are not only oriented toward risk mitigation but also toward improving operational efficiency and service quality for customers. The results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for Islamic banks in designing sustainable strategic policies grounded in Sharia principles.
