Dampak penggunaaan media sosial terhadap kesehatan mental remaja
Pendakatan Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Abstract
With the development of digital technology, social media has become an important part of teenagers' lives. Due to social demonstrations and excessive self-validation seeking on the internet, excessive use can cause negative effects on mental health such as stress, anxiety, and depression. This is despite the fact that communicating and expressing oneself are beneficial on social media. The purpose of this study is to examine how social media use impacts teenagers' mental health using a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach, including its digital form (iCBT). This study uses a systematic literature observation of various empirical studies conducted worldwide and in this country that discuss the relationship between social media, teenagers' mental health, and the application of CBT. The study shows that anxiety and decreased self-esteem are caused by excessive use of social media. CBT has been proven to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression by up to forty percent by helping teenagers change their negative thought patterns into more realistic ones and to cope with new situations. The result is that CBT is an effective method to address the psychological effects of excessive social media use. CBT can also be conducted through digital therapy to reach more teenagers.
