Peran Pendidikan Agama Islam dalam membangun karakter Generasi Z
Abstract
Generation Z, born between 1995 and 2010, is a cohort that has grown alongside the rapid advancement of digital technology. They are highly familiar with the internet, social media, and the ease of accessing information. This generation holds great potential in terms of creativity, innovation, and adaptability to fast-paced global changes. However, behind these strengths, they also face significant challenges, such as declining moral values, increasing individualism, and a lack of understanding of religious teachings.In this context, Islamic education plays a crucial role in shaping strong and integrated character. It does not only emphasize the cognitive aspect of mastering religious knowledge but also functions to instill noble moral values into everyday behavior. Through Islamic education, young people are trained to uphold honesty, responsibility, social care, and tolerance in diversity. Moreover, religious education serves as a foundation to protect the younger generation from the negative impacts of technology, such as excessive use of social media and moral deviation. Therefore, Islamic education can be considered a fundamental strategy to nurture a generation that is well-charactered, virtuous, and prepared to face the challenges of the modern era.
