Abstract

Islamic health jurisprudence (fiqh al-shihhah) is an interdisciplinary study that integrates Islamic law with modern medical practice. In the era of globalization and scientific advancement, it plays a crucial role in shaping the professionalism of Muslim healthcare workers who are not only technically competent but also ethical, spiritual, and responsible. This study aims to explain the urgency of Islamic health fiqh in medical practice and the factors underlying its application. Using a qualitative approach based on classical Islamic literature and contemporary medical ethics, the study finds that fiqh serves as both a moral and legal guide, balancing medical benefit with adherence to Sharia. The principles of la darar wa la dirar (no harm) and maqashid al-shariah (objectives of Islamic law) form the ethical foundation of clinical decisionmaking. The application of health fiqh enhances medical integrity, protects patient rights, and ensures that medical actions align with Islamic values of humanity and justice. Integrating fiqh into medical education and healthcare systems fosters professionals who are skilled, ethical, and spiritually grounded. Thus, health fiqh serves as a vital foundation for achieving high-quality, ethical, and Islamically guided healthcare services.
