Peran perbankan syariah dalam meningkatkan inklusi keuangan di Indonesia
Abstract
Islamic banking holds a pivotal role in advancing financial inclusion in Indonesia, especially for communities that have long been excluded from conventional banking services. Guided by sharia principles emphasizing justice, transparency, and profit-sharing, Islamic banks are perceived as a more ethical and secure alternative for many. This study explores the extent to which Islamic banking contributes to expanding financial access while also identifying factors that facilitate or hinder its growth. Employing a literature review approach, the research draws upon academic journals, reports from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and works on Islamic economics. Findings reveal that Islamic banks support inclusion through partnership-based financing models, the development of digital sharia platforms, and initiatives to improve financial literacy. Nonetheless, limited public understanding and varied perceptions remain significant obstacles. To strengthen Islamic banking’s impact, regulatory reinforcement, technological innovation, and continuous public education are deemed essential in promoting broader financial inclusion.
