Tindak tutur ilokusi dalam cerpen Arinillah karya Taufiq Al Hakim
Kajian pragmatik
Abstract
This study aims to describe the forms and types of illocutionary speech acts found in the short story Arinillah by Taufiq Al Hakim through a pragmatic approach. This research employs a pragmatic perspective with a descriptive qualitative method. The data source of this study consists of the utterances spoken by the characters in the short story Arinillah. Data were collected using reading and note-taking techniques. The data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that five types of illocutionary speech acts based on Searle’s classification are found in the short story, namely assertive, directive, expressive, commissive, and declarative. These speech acts are used by the characters to convey intentions, feelings, requests, and statements within the dialogues. The presence of various illocutionary speech acts demonstrates the pragmatic function of language in constructing meaning, character relationships, and communication flow in literary works.
