Integrasi Literasi Bahasa Indonesia untuk Pemahaman Konsep Matematika

Abstract

The integration of Indonesian Language literacy into the learning process is a crucial strategy for reinforcing students' conceptual understanding in mathematics. The primary challenge in mastering mathematics, especially in solving word problems and contextual issues, often stems not from calculation ability but from students' failure to interpret the linguistic information provided. Mathematical literacy requires individuals to be able to formulate, use, and interpret mathematical concepts in various real-world situations. To achieve this, strong language literacy skills are an essential foundation. Indonesian Language serves as the main medium that enables students to describe, comprehend patterns, and connect abstract mathematical objects with reality. Implementing narrative-based and problem-based learning approaches, such as the Problem Based Learning model, can be an effective platform for training students to articulate their thought processes both in writing and orally. Strengthening language literacy is key to successfully building problem-solving skills and a solid conceptual foundation in mathematics.
