Peran etika ilmuwan dalam menjaga integritas penelitian di era modern dan digital

The advancement of digital technology in the modern era has brought significant influence to scientific research processes, offering both opportunities and ethical challenges. Digitalization accelerates data collection, enhances analytical efficiency, and broadens the dissemination of information; however, it also increases the risk of violations such as data manipulation, plagiarism, fabricated findings, and misuse of artificial intelligence (AI). This article examines the role of scientific ethics in maintaining research integrity amid these developments, emphasizing the concept of scientific ethics and academic integrity, the importance of honesty in knowledge production, and the ethical challenges arising from the use of digital technology and AI. The study shows that scientific ethics serves as a moral foundation ensuring that research is conducted with honesty, transparency, and responsibility. Academic honesty plays a crucial role in preserving the originality and credibility of knowledge through accurate reporting, proper citation, and fair acknowledgment of authorship. Meanwhile, the increasing use of digital technology and AI demands greater critical awareness from researchers to avoid hidden plagiarism or the spread of misinformation. This study highlights that academic integrity can only be maintained when scientific ethics is consistently applied and supported by adequate digital literacy. Therefore, the implementation of scientific ethics is essential to sustaining public trust in scientific knowledge in the modern era.
