Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of digital tsundoku, the habit of collecting e-books without reading them among Generation Z. Using critical analysis and comparative methods of current research, this article reveals the paradox of digital literacy where ease of access creates an accumulation of unfinished readings. Findings indicate that psychological factors such as FOMO, information overload, and dopamine-driven collecting are the main causes. Subscription models like Kindle Unlimited and free e-book promotions create an illusion of productivity without actual action. This research concludes that digital tsundoku is not merely a bad habit, but a reflection of social pressure and the paradox of choice in the digital era. Strategies to address this phenomenon include mindful reading practices, digital decluttering, and a shift from collecting culture to an authentic reading culture.
