The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Bil Qolam Method in improving the phonological abilities of students at the Al-Qur'an Islamic Boarding School. Mastery of phonology, especially the pronunciation of distinctive Arabic phonemes (hija'iyyah letters and their characteristics, such as isti'la' and ithbaq), is very important for language learning and tahsin Al-Qur'an. It is estimated that the Bil Qolam method, which emphasizes direct practice and guided repetition, can help students distinguish and pronounce these sounds. This study used a quantitative approach and a single-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design. The research subjects were students who took intensive Arabic courses at the Al-Qur'an Islamic Boarding School. Data were collected through oral tests that assessed students' abilities before and after the application of the method. The results showed that the students' posttest phonological ability scores increased significantly. These results also indicate that the Bil Qolam Method can be used as an effective alternative to overcome phonological difficulties and that this method is relevant in the context of learning in an Islamic boarding school environment that focuses on the ability to read the Qur'an. Therefore, this study suggests that this method be included in the Arabic language teaching curriculum.
