Abstract

Character education is a fundamental aspect in shaping university students who are not only intellectually intelligent but also possess strong integrity and moral values. This article aims to analyze the urgency of character education for university students, character values that need to be developed, and implementation strategies in higher education institutions. The method used is literature study by examining various sources related to character education. The results show that character education is very important for students as future leaders, with main values including integrity, responsibility, honesty, empathy, and hard work. Implementation of character education can be carried out through integration in courses, exemplary behavior from academic community, creating conducive campus culture, and structured development programs. Challenges faced include education paradigm that is still cognitive-oriented and negative influences from social media. In conclusion, character education requires synergy between institutions, lecturers, and students to produce graduates who are competent and have strong character.
