Abstract

Digital transformation has fundamentally altered the landscape of Islamic religious practices. This article explores the paradigm shift of religious interaction from traditional physical spaces such as mosque verandas to virtual metaverse spaces. This research employs a qualitative approach with literature studies of scholarly publications, observations of digital religious platforms, and analysis of immersive technology phenomena in Islamic religious practices. Findings indicate that the metaverse offers new dimensions in spiritual experience, religious learning, and formation of religious communities that transcend geographical boundaries. However, this transition also raises theological and sociological questions regarding the authenticity of religious experience, legitimacy of virtual rituals, and challenges in maintaining the essence of Islamic spirituality. This article concludes that the integration of metaverse in religious practices requires a balanced approach between technology adoption and preservation of fundamental Islamic values.
