Menyelami makna ritual pemberian sajian kopi dan air gula untuk roh leluhur dalam tradisi islam kejawen: studi kasus atas praktik ritual nenek di lingkungan keluarga
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the practice of offering coffee and sugar water to ancestral spirits, which was carried out by the author's grandmother as part of the Kejawen Islamic ritual. The research method used a qualitative approach with participatory observation and semi-structured interviews. The results of the study show that this practice is a form of acculturation between Islamic values and pre-Islamic Javanese beliefs, which serves as a medium of respect for ancestors, guardians of cosmic harmony, and spiritual expressions that are rich in cultural meaning. Although theologically controversial, this ritual continues to survive as a cultural heritage that reflects the Javanese people's understanding of the relationship between the real world and the supernatural realm. Local wisdom about life balance (nrimo ing pandum) is intertwined with Islamic teachings regarding patience (as-shabr) in facing trials and gratitude (asy-syukr) for blessings, as reflected in the message of the Al-Qur'an. This ritual functions effectively as a social glue that maintains collective memory, a psychological mechanism that creates a sense of security
