Abstract

Early childhood teachers play a crucial role in establishing the foundation of children’s growth and learning. At this stage, education must be holistic, meaningful, and aligned with developmental needs to ensure balanced progress in cognitive, social, emotional, and moral domains. The professional competence of teachers is therefore essential, encompassing pedagogical expertise, mastery of child development, and the ability to design safe and stimulating learning environments. This study emphasizes the importance of enhancing teacher competence and explores strategies for professional development in modern educational contexts. Using a literature review method, the research examines journals, books, and regulations related to early childhood education. Findings reveal that teachers often face challenges such as limited pedagogical understanding, insufficient learning media, and a lack of continuous training opportunities. To overcome these barriers, capacity building through structured training, academic supervision, and professional collaboration is necessary to improve the quality of PAUD learning and strengthen early childhood education services.
