Sejarah dan perkembangan suku uighur di wilayah asia tengah dan timur
Abstract
This study examines the history and development of the Uighur people in Central and Eastern Asia by tracing their long historical trajectory from the emergence of the Uighur Khaganate, the process of migration to East Turkestan, to the formation of cultural and religious identity in the modern era. The research highlights the strategic role of the Uighurs along the Silk Road, which facilitated cross-civilizational interactions, cultural exchange, and the gradual spread of Islam as the main foundation of Uighur social life. Furthermore, this study explores geopolitical dynamics, shifts in political power, and state policies that have significantly influenced the social structure, cultural continuity, and identity of the Uighur community, including challenges related to marginalization and the preservation of language and traditions. Using a historical and cultural approach, this research demonstrates that the Uighur people possess strong cultural resilience, reflected in their efforts to maintain cultural heritage, religious practices, and collective memory amid complex socio-political transformations, thereby offering a more comprehensive understanding of ethnic minority dynamics in Central and Eastern Asia.
