Mekanisme termregulasi pada hewan poikiloterm dan homoioterm
Abstract
Termoregulasi merupakan proses yang memungkinkan hewan menjaga suhu tubuh pada kondisi yang mendukung aktivitas fisiologis. Kajian ini membahas perbedaan mekanisme termoregulasi pada hewan poikiloterm dan homeoterm berdasarkan literatur ilmiah mutakhir. Poikiloterm, seperti amfibi dan reptil, sangat bergantung pada suhu lingkungan sehingga mengandalkan strategi perilaku dan perubahan metabolik untuk menyesuaikan suhu tubuh. Sebaliknya, homeoterm seperti burung dan mamalia mempertahankan suhu internal yang stabil melalui mekanisme fisiologis, termasuk peningkatan metabolisme, vasodilatasi, vasokonstriksi, dan respons evaporatif. Perbandingan keduanya menunjukkan bahwa poikiloterm lebih efisien secara energi, sedangkan homeoterm memiliki rentang aktivitas yang lebih luas. Kajian ini memberikan pemahaman dasar yang relevan untuk penelitian fisiologi hewan dan respon spesies terhadap perubahan lingkungan.
