Abstract

This article is motivated by the increasing exposure of children to various types of hazardous chemicals found in everyday foods and snacks, especially in the school environment. Children's lack of understanding about additives such as synthetic dyes, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, and toxic chemicals makes them vulnerable to health problems. Furthermore, parenting and communication patterns play a significant role in shaping children's knowledge and consumption behavior. Many parents are unaware of the importance of providing education about food safety and reading food labels, resulting in children often making consumption choices without considering health. Furthermore, information conveyed through counseling or learning media at school will not be optimal without the active support of parents as the first educators at home. Based on these conditions, this article was written to examine how communication and parenting patterns can improve children's understanding of the dangers of chemicals in food and how more effective educational strategies can be developed in the modern era.
