Indonesia is a country with a high level of diversity, which on one hand is a national wealth, but on the other hand has the potential to create various social challenges. In the midst of this condition, climate change emerges as an increasingly complex global issue that has wide-ranging impacts on the environment, society, economy, and food security. Climate change is not only influenced by natural factors but is also closely related to human activities, such as industrialization, exploitation of natural resources, and unsustainable consumption patterns. This paper aims to examine climate change as a result of human activities, the public's perception and responsibility toward climate change, and the role of literacy and education in promoting pro-environmental behavior. The method used is a literature review of various research findings and relevant scientific publications. The discussion results indicate that the majority of the public are aware of climate change and link it to human behavior, but this awareness has not yet fully translated into strategic collective action. Therefore, enhancing climate change literacy through participatory and contextual educational approaches becomes the most important step in bridging the gap between knowledge, awareness, and action. The integration of public education, policy communication, and community participation is expected to strengthen sustainable climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts.
