Pengaruh program edukasi stunting terhadap pengasuhan anak oleh kakek dan nenek: studi kasus desa panggungrejo
Abstract
Stunting is a long term nutrition problem that can affect children’s physical growth and brain development. Caregiving practices play an important role in stunting prevention, especially when children are raised by grandparents. This study aims to examine the effect of a stunting education program on grandparents’ knowledge and caregiving practices in Panggungrejo Village. This study used a case study approach with observation and short interviews conducted after the education program. The program was delivered through an interactive seminar that discussed the definition of stunting, its causes and impacts, as well as proper child nutrition and caregiving practices. The participants were 18 grandparents aged 65–70 years who served as caregivers for toddlers. The results showed an improvement in participants’ knowledge and awareness of stunting prevention after the program. They better understood the importance of balanced nutrition, hygiene, and monitoring children’s growth and development. However, some participants still experienced difficulties in changing their caregiving habits due to old age and traditional practices. In conclusion, community-based stunting education programs can improve grandparents’ knowledge and caregiving practices to support stunting prevention.
