Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly transformed students’ academic and daily lives, particularly in how they access information, communicate, and manage time. While digital platforms offer efficiency and flexibility, they also introduce constant distractions such as social media, instant notifications, and online entertainment. This article aims to examine student productivity in the era of digital distraction through the perspectives of cognitive psychology and self-regulated learning. Digital distractions influence attention capacity, cognitive load, and self-control in completing academic tasks. Furthermore, multitasking tendencies and frequent task-switching may disrupt deep information processing. This article discusses the psychological mechanisms underlying decreased productivity and highlights the importance of self-management strategies in maintaining academic effectiveness. Understanding these dynamics is expected to assist students in developing more adaptive and sustainable learning behaviors amid digital transformation.
