Implementasi ketidakterbatasan tuhan dengan ketakterhinggaan (Infinity) dalam matematika
Abstract
‘Infinity’ (ketakterhinggaan) originates from the Latin word ‘infinitas’, which means limitless. Infinity is a concept used to describe something that has no boundaries. According to the ancient Greeks, the concept of infinity in the real world can be observed through three aspects: time, which appears to have no end; space and time, which can be divided endlessly; and space, which has no limits. In mathematics, this concept is used to represent numbers that are extremely large or extremely small. Infinity is commonly applied in various mathematical fields, such as geometry, calculus, number theory, and others. For example, in calculus, the concept of infinity is used to describe the behavior of a function as its value approaches a certain point when the variable becomes unbounded. This notion of unboundedness is comparable to the boundlessness of Allah SWT, the Lord of the universe. Just as functions with unbounded variables have no limits, the universe created by Him is also limitless. No one knows the boundaries or the vastness of Allah SWT’s creation. Integrating the mathematical concept of infinity with the concept of God’s boundlessness can help enhance the quality of one’s faith. Through a library research approach, various perspectives from scholars can be examined. The concept of infinity in mathematics describes something without limits and is used to understand phenomena such as the behavior of functions at certain values. This understanding can be linked to the attribute of Allah SWT’s boundlessness, thereby strengthening faith in His greatness.
