Tantangan dan harapan di era modern
Abstract
Democracy in Indonesia is a system of government that places the people as the holders of supreme sovereignty in the life of the nation and state. Its development continues to experience dynamics in line with social and political changes and technological advances in the modern era. This study aims to describe the state of democracy in Indonesia, identify the various challenges faced, and explain steps that can be taken to strengthen democracy in the future. The approach used is qualitative descriptive through a literature study by analyzing books, scientific journals, academic articles, and reports from related institutions. The results of the study indicate that although democracy in Indonesia continues to develop, various challenges still arise, such as horizontal conflict due to political polarization, unequal access to information, practices of corruption, collusion, and nepotism (KKN), and low public political awareness. Therefore, strengthening democracy needs to be done through improving political education, upholding the rule of law, strengthening political ethics, supporting the role of an independent press, and increasing active and constructive public participation.
