The Importance of instructional media in improving arabic language skills

Abstract

Arabic language learning plays an important role in developing religious, academic, and global communication competencies. However, the implementation of Arabic language instruction in Indonesia continues to face several challenges, including low student motivation and the limited use of innovative teaching methods and learning media. This article aims to examine the urgency of learning media in improving Arabic language skills through theoretical and practical perspectives. The study employs a literature review method by analyzing various references related to Arabic learning media, learning theories, and their implementation in educational settings. The findings reveal that learning media hold a strategic role in enhancing student motivation, interaction, and overall learning effectiveness. Visual, audio, audiovisual, and technology-based digital media have proven effective in supporting the development of the four core Arabic language skills, namely listening (istima’), speaking (kalam), reading (qira’ah), and writing (kitabah). Furthermore, selecting appropriate media that align with learning objectives, student characteristics, and technological developments is essential for successful instruction. Therefore, continuous innovation in learning media and the enhancement of teachers’ technological competencies are necessary to create effective, engaging, and relevant Arabic language learning experiences in the digital era.
