Resiliensi akademik dan strategi adaptasi mahasiswa baru dalam menghadapi academic shock pada pembelajaran Bahasa Arab
Abstract
The transition to college often causes academic shock for first-semester students. Unlike previous studies that focused on identifying problems, this research aims to explore the academic resilience and adaptation strategies employed by first-year students in the Arabic Language Education Department to cope with the demands of a complex curriculum. Using a phenomenological qualitative approach, this study explores success narratives from students who were able to navigate the critical phase of their first semester. Findings indicate that students developed coping mechanisms through a shift toward a growth mindset and emotional regulation to manage anxiety. The primary adaptation strategies identified include leveraging peer support to bridge gaps in grammatical competence, as well as utilizing digital technology as a medium to accelerate vocabulary acquisition. This study concludes that academic challenges can be mitigated by strengthening a collaborative learning environment and fostering self-directed learning, rather than merely simplifying course material.
