Penanaman moral pelajar perspektif kitab adabul ‘alim wal muta’allim

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of instilling moral values in social life and education, especially amid the decline of moral behavior among students, as reflected in increasing cases of bullying and lack of empathy. In Islamic perspective, morality (akhlaq) holds a central role as it governs not only the relationship between humans and God but also relationships with others and the environment. One of the important references in moral education is the book Adabul ‘Alim wal Muta’allim by KH. Hasyim Asy’ari, which discusses the ethics of seeking knowledge. This study aims to examine the moral values contained in the book and to identify their implementation in the educational process. The findings reveal that the moral values in Adabul ‘Alim wal Muta’allim include sincerity, humility, patience, discipline, self-restraint from negative behavior, and respect for knowledge and teachers. These values are highly relevant in shaping students’ character, enabling them to achieve not only academic excellence but also noble character. The implementation of these values can be carried out through various strategies, such as teacher role modeling, providing advice, creating a conducive learning environment, and applying balanced and educational reward and punishment. Therefore, the systematic and continuous internalization of moral values can serve as an effective approach in developing students who are morally grounded, responsible, and capable of applying these values in their daily lives.
