The development of science and philosophy in Ancient Greece represents a significant milestone in the history of human civilization. This period marked the transition from mythological explanations of reality to rational and logical approaches in understanding the world. This study aims to examine the origins of science and philosophy in Ancient Greece, the factors that contributed to their emergence, and the contributions of major philosophers to the advancement of knowledge. The research employs a library research method with a descriptive-qualitative approach through the analysis of relevant literature sources. The findings reveal that the birth of Greek philosophy was influenced by rich mythological traditions, literary development, and interactions with scientific knowledge from other civilizations. The development of Greek philosophy can be divided into two major periods: the Pre-Socratic era, which focused on investigating the origin and nature of the universe, and the Classical era, which emphasized human beings, ethics, and epistemology. Philosophers such as Thales, Anaximander, Anaximenes, Heraclitus, Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle made substantial contributions to establishing the foundations of scientific thinking based on rationality and logical reasoning. Therefore, the intellectual legacy of Ancient Greece became a fundamental basis for the development of science, philosophy, and the scientific method that continues to influence modern civilization. Ancient Greek thought remains relevant in understanding the evolution of human knowledge and intellectual inquiry.
