Abstract

This study discusses the use of fashl and washl in the Qur’an, focusing on Surah Al-Baqarah verse 49 and Surah Ibrahim verse 6. The problem of this study is how the differences in the use of fashl and washl in both verses reveal rhetorical meanings and aesthetic values. This research aims to uncover the beauty and miraculous language of the Qur’an through the study of ma‘ani science. The method used is qualitative research with a library research approach through the analysis of tafsir and balaghah. The results show that Surah Al-Baqarah verse 49 uses fashl to emphasize the severity of Pharaoh’s punishment and create a strong emotional effect. Meanwhile, Surah Ibrahim verse 6 uses washl to describe the sequence of punishments gradually according to the context of reminding Allah’s blessings. These differences indicate the precision, beauty, and rhetorical miracle of the Qur’anic language structure in conveying meaning based on the context of the verses. Therefore, the study of fashl and washl can help readers understand the meaning of the Qur’an more deeply.
