Konsep mahar dalam perspektif hadis dan kompilasi hukum islam

In Islamic law, mahr is a crucial component of marriage that has legal, social, and religious aspects as a way of paying respect to women. In practice, however, the meaning of mahr frequently changes in society, becoming a symbol of social status that can put a financial burden on prospective husbands. In the context of The Concept of Mahr from the Perspective of Hadith and the Compilation of Islamic Law, the amount of mahr in the hadith perspective is not fixed; rather, it is tailored to the individual's capacity and may include both tangible objects and benefits, such as memorizing the Quran, which embodies the Islamic principle of ease (taysir). In the meanwhile, the Islamic Law Compilation (KHI) governs mahar in Articles 30–34, highlighting the concepts of agreement, simplicity, complete ownership by the wife, and payment flexibility. There is a dialectic between religious values and culture, as seen by the contrast between normative ideals and real social behavior. Therefore, a thorough knowledge of mahr is necessary to ensure that its practice aligns with the aim of Sharia, which is to establish marriage that is fair, easy, and harmonious.
