Abstract

Indonesia is recognized as the largest archipelagic country in the world with a highly strategic geographical position, located between the Asian and Australian continents and bordered by the Indian and Pacific Oceans. This condition places Indonesia in an important role in international trade, regional politics, defense, and security. This study aims to analyze Indonesia’s geopolitical and geostrategic concepts, along with the challenges and strengthening efforts in the era of globalization. The research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach by collecting data from scientific journals, academic books, and other relevant scholarly sources. The findings indicate that Indonesia’s geopolitics is implemented through the concept of wawasan nusantara, which emphasizes national unity and territorial integrity despite cultural diversity. Meanwhile, geostrategy is realized through the concept of national resilience to address internal and external threats. Indonesia faces various challenges, including globalization, foreign cultural influence, the South China Sea conflict, cyber threats, and development inequality. Therefore, strengthening geopolitics and geostrategy is essential through improving national defense, equitable development, international diplomacy, and the enhancement of human resources quality in order to maintain sovereignty, unity, and national stability.
