Peran pesantren dalam membentuk karakter generasi muslim di era modern

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) are islamic educational institutions that play an important role in shaping the character of the muslim generation in the modern era. This study aims to examine the role of pesantren in developing students’ character through education based on islamic values. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with a literature study approach from various journals and scientific sources related to pesantren education and islamic character building. The results show that pesantren have a significant role in forming religious, disciplined, independent, responsible, and socially caring characters through methods of role modeling, habituation, advice, and the implementation of rules in daily life. Amid the development of technology and globalization, pesantren continue to adapt by combining religious education with modern knowledge without abandoning islamic values. Therefore, pesantren become one of the effective educational institutions in creating a muslim generation with noble character and the ability to face modern challenges
