Abstract

The development of social media in the digital era has had a significant influence on the lives of Indonesian people. Social media is no longer used only as a means of communication and entertainment, but has also developed into a digital public space that influences people’s mindsets, culture, and social behavior. On the one hand, social media provides benefits in the fields of education, economy, and Islamic preaching because it can accelerate the spread of information and expand social interaction. On the other hand, the use of social media also creates various problems, such as the spread of hoaxes, hate speech, cyberbullying, defamation, and other forms of misuse of digital platforms. This study aims to examine the concept of amar ma’ruf nahi munkar in the use of social media and its relation to legal regulations in Indonesia, especially the Law on Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE Law). The research uses a descriptive-analytical method with a library research approach. The data were obtained from books, scientific journals, laws and regulations, and various academic sources relevant to the topic discussed. The results of the study indicate that the concept of amar ma’ruf can be implemented through the dissemination of positive, educational, and Islamic preaching content on social media. Meanwhile, nahi munkar can be applied by preventing the spread of hoaxes, hate speech, and other negative behaviors in digital spaces. In addition, the objectives of implementing the ITE Law are closely related to the concept of nahi munkar because both aim to maintain public order, security, and social harmony. Therefore, the application of amar ma’ruf and nahi munkar values in the use of social media can serve as a moral foundation for building healthy, wise, and responsible digital ethics in Indonesia.
